They're connected via quantum computer chips to the Athena Command AI, granting them autonomy & combat effectiveness, rivaling that of a human being. The AR hopes these machines will help turn the tide in the war effort against the SE, reducing AR human casualties and providing a virtually unlimited supply of combat ready soldiers
